Brenda Lea Coffman, age 70, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1944, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Orel H. Gibson and Esther Bolling Gibson. Brenda graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1963. She married Robert W. Coffman on Sept. 6, 1969, at Fort Scott. Brenda had worked at Eugene Ware Elementary School for many years, first as a teacher's aide and later as the school secretary. Brenda loved her family dearly and so enjoyed the times they spent shopping, going to the movies, preparing meals together and sharing a good laugh. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; her two daughters, Kim Couch and husband, Gregg, of Bronaugh, Mo. and Shelly Potter and husband, Doug, of Fort Scott; and three grandchildren, Mason and Bailey Couch and Lanie Potter. Also surviving are three sisters, Beverly Reed, Yelm, Wash., Barbara Parker, Liberty, Mo. and Bobbie Wratchford, Kansas City, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rev. Jared Witt will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
