Mary K. O'Brien

Mary K. O'Brien, age 87, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Humboldt, Kan., the daughter of Albert Potts and Frances Kaufman Potts. Mary K. had worked as a social worker in Vernon County, Mo. She was a member of the Mary Queen of Angel's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Hack, of Fort Scott and two granddaughters, Michelle Blankenship and Misty Hack. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Potts, of South Carolina and a sister, Barbara Masters, of Chanute, Kan. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cecilia Rickie.

There was cremation. Private family burial will take place at a later date at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Humboldt, Kan. Memorials are suggested to the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
