The newest members of the FSCC Athletics' Hall of Fame were inducted on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The 1972 National Runner-up FSCC Football team earned its way into the Hall of Fame as the only entrant in the Class of 2014.

"It was a great morning with a fantastic buffet breakfast; where the 'Hounds enjoyed visiting with coaches, teammates, family, and friends prior to the induction ceremony," noted a press release from the school.

The induction ceremony was filled with stories from numerous players that were in attendance from that historic season. Coach Bob Shores and Coach Chuck Scammell acted as masters of ceremonies after they received the Hall of Fame plaque.

This team finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record, qualifying them to play for the national championship. This was the third trip for the Greyhounds to the national championship game in three straight years.

Defensively the Greyhounds were the top team in the conference, only giving up 103 points total during the regular season.

The defense produced Cliff Frazier, a first-team NJCAA All-American, and already an individual member of the FSCC Athletic Hall of Fame. Another defensive standout was John Evans, who was a NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention.

Offensively, the team averaged 39.3 points a game and totaled 393 points for the regular season.

The offense was led by Chester Pennock, who was a NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention.

Unfortunately, the Greyhounds fell in the national championship game to Arizona Western.

Greyhound Athletics asks that any member of the team that was not able to attend the event, please contact J.D. Ettore at (620) 223-2700 ext. 7230 or e-mail at jde@fortscott.edu to update your contact information.
