Fort Scott High's junior varsity tennis team hosted its second tournament of the season Monday and got to use all nine of its players when Iola was unable to show.

The coaches put together a "combo" team to take Iola's place, which had two entries from Fort Scott and two from Chanute.

Ashlee Montojo played in the No. 1 singles position and was 0-3. She lost to Pittsburg's Trina Pail, 6-0, Chanute's Kelli Thompson, 6-1, and Chanute's Cassi Ehmke, playing on the "combo" team, 6-2.

Savanah Dixon was 0-3 in the No. 2 singles spot as the Fort Scott representative while Kristal Castillo was 1-2 as the "combo" team player. Castillo won the head-to-head meeting over Dixon, 6-3.

Dixon lost to Pittsburg's Chania Stewart, 6-1, and Chanute's Jaiden Galemore, 6-1. Castillo lost to Galemore, 6-2, and Stewart, 6-1.

Briana Williams and Emily Adams played as the Fort Scott team in the No. 1 doubles bracket. They took first place on a tie-breaker.

Williams and Adams lost to Pittsburg's Laney Burton and Alexa Yantis in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-3). They beat teammates Addison Cunningham and Madi Larson, playing as the "combo" team entry, 6-2, and Chanute's Laura Benevides/Sage Collins, 6-1.

Fort Scott won 17 games to win the first tie-breaker as the Pittsburg and Chanute teams each won 13 games. Chanute was then awarded second based on fewest games lost.

Cunningham and Larson lost by 6-2 scores to both Benavides/Collins and Burton/Yantis.

Kendall Madison and Aubry Terry placed third in No. 2 doubles. They beat Pittsburg's Maddie Baden and Alexis Pichler, 6-4. They lost to Chanute's Nakia Palmer/Selena Stich, 6-2, and Pittsburg's "combo" team entrants, Stephanie Neville/Hannah Hodson, 6-1.

The next scheduled outing for the Fort Scott JV is Monday at Parsons.
