Raymond Roy Hueston, 85, of Mapleton, Kan., died at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center. Raymond was born Feb. 23, 1929 in Arcadia, Kan., to Thomas "Mac" and Nellie (Mitchell) Hueston. He graduated from Arcadia High School and Fort Scott Community College.

Raymond served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On March 29, 1964 he married Joyce Sutterby at Mapleton United Methodist Church. He was a dedicated firefighter, having helped to organize Rural Fire Dist. No. 3 where he served as fire chief for the Mapleton station for over 20 years. Raymond worked for the Bourbon County Highway Department for many years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Mapleton United Methodist Church.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, LaVerne Pressler and Maxine Hueston; his twin brother, Rolland Hueston, and brother Kenneth Hueston; and two grandchildren, Stephanie LeAnn Hueston and Justin Michael Hueston. Survivors include his wife Joyce; son Mike Hueston and wife Ginger; daughter Jolene Crystal and husband Marty; grandchildren Zak Hueston, Katie Hueston, Raylene and Thomas Burton, Kaylyn Crystal, and Callie Crystal; great-grandkids Colby and Paityn Hueston; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory Mound City Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. The funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at Mapleton United Methodist Church.
