Lois Ellen Stewart

Lois Ellen Stewart, age 90, passed from this earthly life and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014. She had resided at Moran Manor Nursing Home in Moran for the last few years. Lois was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Hutchison, Kan., the daughter of Andrew and Elsie Mae Jackson Gillispie. Lois was married to Delbert Lorraine Stewart of Bronson, Kan., on April 22, 1944. To this union three children were born; Larry Dean, Stephen Mark and Carol Elaine. Lois and Delbert lived and farmed in the Bronson area for over 45 years. Lois was a devoted farmer's wife and enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was known for wonderful pie making and made many pies over the years for the Hope Chapel Assembly of God Church where she was a long-standing member. She was employed by IMP Boats in Iola for over 25 years.

Survivors include her children; Larry Stewart and wife, Linda and Mark Stewart and wife, Kathaleen, all of Bronson, Kan., and Elaine Lackrone of Nixa, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Tracy Stewart, Jennifer Polley, Matthew Lackrone, Jonathan Lackrone, Luke Lackrone, Megan Felt and Travis Stewart; 13 great-grandchildren, Eric, Levi and Tanner Stewart, Haley, Micah and Hartley Lackrone, Emily and Joshua Lackrone, Ada Lackrone, Blair Felt and Matthias Stewart. Also surviving are a sister, Doris Garrett of Adrian, Mo., several nieces and nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, on March 2, 1993; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Stewart; a son-in-law, Rev. Marshall Lackrone; a sister, Lucille Bruner and a brother, Andrew Gillispie.

Rev. Waylon Ingle and Pastor Dale Johnson will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bronson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
