Four injured in Thursday wreck

Four people were reportedly injured in a two-vehicle accident about 2:20 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and Third Street.

According to Fort Scott Police Department Capt. Shaun West, a 2012 Ford pickup truck traveling southbound on U.S. 69 collided into the driver's side of a four-door 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix that was eastbound as it crossed the Third Street intersection.

The driver of the pickup truck was 27-year-old Torres Rodriguez of Tulsa, Okla. Passengers in the truck were Arellano Lopez, 34 of Rogers, Ark., and Anaya Figueroa, 24 of Tulsa, Okla. West said no injuries were reported by those in the truck.

The driver of the Pontiac was 40-year old Toni Beerbower of Redfield. The passengers were 17-year-old Katelyn Logan of Fort Scott, 17-year old Dana Beerbower of Redfield, and Bennie Fennell, 21 of Redfield.

Beerbower and the two passengers were transported to Fort Scott Mercy Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. Fennell was transported by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., with unknown injuries. West said information regarding where Fennell was picked up by the medical helicopter was unavailable.

Agencies responding to the accident were Mercy Emergency Medical Services, Fort Scott Fire Department, and the Fort Scott Police Department.

West said information regarding whether or not the drivers and passengers were wearing safety restraints was unavailable. The truck was registered to Crossland Construction and had Oklahoma license tags. The accident is still under investigation, according to West.
