Steven Ira Nickelson, age 58, died Friday Feb. 7, 2014 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on Jan. 1, 1956 at Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Ed and Verna Dennis Nickelson. He graduated from Fort Scott High School in the Class of 1974. He attended Fort Scott Community and Pittsburg State University. He received his credentials in cosmetology and worked as a hair stylist for many years. He married Janelle Lewis on Oct. 25, 1997. To this union, two children were born. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, the Lions Club, and Linn County Care to Share. Steve had many nicknames, including Beatle Bomb. He loved music and cooking. He had recently been involved in cooking at Ozark Church Camp. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Janelle, two sons Bradley and Tyler Nickelson; three brothers, Ronald Nickelson and wife Carol, David Nickelson and wife Debbie, and Douglas Nickelson and wife Joyce, two sisters, Edra Kay Cosens and husband Boone, and Kathy Clark and husband Robert.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
