Carol Jean Karleskint, age 75, went home to be with her Jesus on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the Premier Living Homeplace in Wichita, Kan. She was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Fred Karleskint and Caroline Reiter Karleskint. Carol was the tenth of 13 children and she dearly loved her big family. Carol had many illnesses during her lifetime and was handicapped in many ways, but certainly not in her ability to love and help others. She was a true servant to everyone. She had many beautiful virtues, but she excelled in love and compassion for the sick. Carol lived most of her life at home with her parents. In 1982, she moved to Wichita, Kan., to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Mack Hobbs who cared for her until 2006. Because of extensive physical needs, she was placed at "Mothers and Others" a longterm care facility where she received the best of care and much love. Carol dearly loved this home and all the staff were like family to her. A big thanks to all of them and to Jodi and her "Promises Kept" Staff as well as Good Shepherd Hospice. Carol was deeply loved by everyone and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include five sisters, Rita Godwin, Durham, N.C., Alice Murray, Wallingford, Conn., Marjorie Cook, Olathe, Kan., Rosalie Martin and husband, Jim, Fort Scott, Kan., and Patricia Hobbs and husband, Mack, of Wichita, Kan.; and a brother, Tom Karleskint and wife, Nancy, Fort Scott, Kan. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Leonard Umlauf; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and double cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo James Karleskint and William "Doc" Karleskint; and four sisters, Esther DeLange, Betty Young, Joan Greenfield and Ruth Umlauf.

Pastor Jonathan Dudley will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Heritage Family Church, 909 N. St. Paul in Wichita, Kan. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan. Carol always had a deep love of children and a desire to learn, therefore, memorials are suggested to the Heritage Family Academy School and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
