Greyhound volleyball splits at Coffeyville tourney

COFFEYVILLE -- Fort Scott Community College's volleyball team split four matches in a tournament here over the weekend.

Friday, the Greyhounds swept Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the third of four meetings this season, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21, and lost to Allen, 25-15, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23.

Saturday, Fort Scott (10-15) defeated Independence, 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-12, and lost to host Coffeyville, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18.

Statistics from the NEO A&M match show Stephanie De Hoyos as the Greyhounds' leader in kills with 10. Shelbey Baker followed with 8. Kortney Blaufuss handed out 38 assists.Terina Harris came up with 12 digs and Baker was credited with 10. Jacy Ermel served 3 aces.

In the match against Allen, De Hoyos again led in kills with 14 while Baker followed with 11. Blaufuss dished out 43 assists. De Hoyos also served 4 aces and led with 16 digs while Harris came up with 14 digs.

No statistics were available for the Saturday match against Independence. Against Coffeyville later that day, De Hoyos was credited with 14 kills and Ermel picked up 11. Blaufuss came up with 33 assists. Harris led with 13 digs and De Hoyos came up with 11.

Statistics are also available for Wednesday night's 25-22, 25-18, 25-15 loss to No. 1-ranked Cowley at Arnold Arena. The then-undefeated Tigers -- they lost twice at a tournament in Tyler, Texas, this weekend -- limited the "Hounds to 21 kills as a team with Baker collecting 4 of them. Blaufuss had 21 assists and Harris and Ermel each had 10 digs.
