Leonard Rathbun

Leonard Rathbun, age 79, a resident of Uniontown, Kan., died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Holly, Colo., the son of Harold Rathbun and Gwendolyn Nichelson Rathbun. He married Nada Pearl Turner on Sept. 25, 1951, in Mineral Wells, Texas. Leonard had worked as a police officer for both Hennessey and Seiling, Okla., and Perryton, Texas. He enjoyed attending his son's and grandchildren's sporting events. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma State Football teams. He was a member of the Marmaton Community Church.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Rathbun and wife, Lennie, Athens, Texas, Rusty Rathbun and wife, Dulene, Wichita, Kan., Randy Rathbun and wife, Bonnie, Uniontown, Kan., and Ronnie Rathbun and wife, Pamela, Tyler, Texas and a daughter, Robin Browning and husband, Jake, Minco, Okla. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Calene and Sandy. He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson.

Pastor Jeff Feagins will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Marmaton Community Church in Redfield, Kan.
