Local gardener Pete Allen looks over his plant and vegetable garden, which include potatoes, beets, cabbage, and strawberries. Allen maintains the garden located behind his home at 1248 S. Crawford St. Allen's garden illustrates what can be done on a large city lot.
Six gardeners throughout Fort Scott opened their garden gates to visitors Saturday. Proceeds from the Secret Garden Tour, which features gardens of various sizes and styles, will help fund the Bourbon County Master Gardeners and Garden Club's mission of downtown beautification.
