Gloria Ann Dalton

Gloria Ann Dalton, age 80, formerly of Fort Scott, died early Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Del-Mar Gardens in Overland Park, Kan. She was born June 18, 1932, in Eve, Mo, the daughter of Hubert R. Stanley and Virginia M. Phillips Stanley. She graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1949. She married Robert W. Huff on March 25, 1950. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1972. She married Edward E. Dalton on April 19, 1974. Gloria worked for Western Insurance and later American States Insurance as an executive secretary. She was proud of obtaining her Certified Professional Secretary designation. She retired June 15, 1989, after 17 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and baking, mostly for her family. She was a sports fan, especially the Kansas City Royals and KU Basketball. She loved attending her grandchildren's sports and other activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stanley, Kan., and formerly in Fort Scott.

Survivors include her husband Ed of the home; two daughters, Suzanne Hughes and husband Mark, and Brenda Douglas and husband Mark, all of Olathe, Kan.; a son, Greg Dalton and wife Shelly, Louisburg, Kan.; a half-sister, Jeanne Fornfiest and husband Gary; and three cousins, Marshall and Velma York, and Maureen Young. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Chris Beveridge, Jake Douglas, Jared Douglas, Amberly Ramsey, Hannah Dalton and Tommy Dalton. Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Wicken; her mother, Virginia Allen; her father, Hubert Stanley; and her stepfather, Bob Parsons.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until leaving for the cemetery.
