Humboldt thrashes Eagles

BRONSON -- Visiting Humboldt run-ruled Uniontown in both games of a non-league doubleheader at Dawson Field here Wednesday. The Cubs won the opener 15-1 in five innings and took the second game 18-3 in four.

The Eagles (0-8) had just 3 hits in the opener, picked up by Jary Harp, Devonte Robinson and James Pearson, who scored Uniontown's only run in the fifth inning. Garrett Murrow was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force Pearson home.

Uniontown had 4 hits in the second game. Devonte Robinson had 2 of them and drove in 2 runs. Harp and Broderick Glessner had the other hits.

All of Uniontown's runs scored in the third inning.

Humboldt scored in all but one of the nine innings played on the day.

"Playing back-to-back days against such high-caliber teams as St. Paul and Humboldt was very taxing on such a young team,' Eagle head coach Chris Woods said. "I am proud of them for going out there and never giving up."

The Eagles were scheduled to play make-up games at Jayhawk-Linn today but those are unlikely to be played. They are also set to play a Three Rivers League doubleheader at Chetopa on Monday.
