Commissioners select local contractor for bridge work

Frank Young, a contract engineer for the county, was on hand to open bids for the Noble Road Bridge Project during Monday's regular Bourbon County Commission meeting. Young said he believes the bridge was built during the Works Progress Administration under President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal and is likely 70 to 80 years old and badly in need of repair.

He said the job of repairing the bridge will not be an easy job, with very wet conditions and challenging access points. He said the triple-box culvert is heavily damaged from years of channel washing at the base of the culverts.
