Thelma Lorraine Stancer

Thelma Lorraine Stancer, age 89, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1923 in Richards, Mo., the daughter of Jefferson T. Woodring and Anna L. Hensley Woodring. Thelma was a graduate of Richards High School. She married Earl Edward Stancer on March 15, 1974 in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1980. Thelma resided in Lamar, Colo. for a number of years and was employed as a skating instructor. She then moved to the Los Angeles, Calif. area where she was employed in defense related jobs. Upon returning to Fort Scott, Thelma worked and retired as an insurance coding specialist with the Western Insurance/American States Insurance Companies. She did volunteer service with Mercy Auxiliary for a number of years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. She loved to travel and work in her garden.
