PARSONS -- Fort Scott High's golf team took part in a five-team tournament here Tuesday but were unable to come away with a win in 11 matches.

"In order to keep everyone under the eight-day limit on days of competition we did hold out both Gage (Addington) and Davis (Drake), so we were playing a little weaker line up than usual. I felt like everyone played hard and tried to compete. Some of the players are continuing to show signs of improvement. but we are making too many unforced errors and mental errors. Until we eliminate more of those errors and play with more consistency, it will be hard to compete."

Results:

* -- Jesse Guerro, No. 1 singles: lost to Cody Spainhower, Columbus, 8-0; lost to Skye Conley, Independence, 8-0; lost to Josh Mathes, Labette County, 8-0.

* -- D.J. Blethen, No. 1 singles: lost to Justin Garrison, Columbus, 8-1; lost to Austin Whitson, Independence, 8-2; lost to Aidan Cater, Labette County, 8-2.

* -- Hayden Barr and Alex Combs, No. 1 doubles: lost to Joel Zwahlen/Aaron Napier, Columbus, 8-3; lost to A.J. Capps/Heath Hoffmeister, Independence, 8-6; lost to Dakota Lewis/Colton Kessler, Labette County, 8-2.
