JV girls' track takes Chanute title

CHANUTE -- Fort Scott High School girls' track team took the team title at the Chanute Invitational here Monday, beating second-place Paola by 37 points.

The Tigers won six events, including two relays. Fort Scott's 4x100-meter relay team of Michaela Webb, Maddie Barbour, Elisha Hasenplaugh and Keaira Meadows finished in 54.57 seconds. Cherryvale was second in 56.25

The Fort Scott 4x400-meter relay team, with Hasenplaugh, Grace Willis, Cassidy Westhoff and Chelsie Monroe turned in a time of 4:54.38 and was the only team that finished in less than 5 minutes.

Meadows also won the 100-meter dash in 13.18 seconds. Webb was third in 13.69 and Barbour was fourth in 13.83.

Meadows won long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 7 inches. Hasenplaugh led a 1-2 finish in triple jump with an effort of 29' 0 1/4" followed by Barbour in second at 28' 11 3/4". Hasenplaugh also won high jump, clearing 4' 8".

Other finishers for the Tigers:

* Meadows took second place in the 200 meters in 29.08.

* Willis was second in the 400 meters in 1:10.75.

* Meredith Hill claimed second in the 800 meters in 3:04.66.

* Westhoff finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 53.12 and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.34 seconds.

* The 4x800-meter relay team of Hill, Morgan Olson, Sandra Villa and JoElla Williams was fourth in 12:47.97.

Boys' results were not available at press time. The Tribune will attempt to get those results and publish them at a later date.

The junior varsity teams compete Monday at Paola.
