Nina Marie Jones
Nina Marie Jones, age 92, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room. She was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Mapleton, Kans., the daughter of King Harris and Thurley Willard Harris. Nina married George F. Jones on Dec. 7, 1940, in Ft. Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1990. During World War II, Nina worked in the ammunition plant at Parsons, Kan. Nina enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading as well as taking care of children. In her earlier years, she enjoyed running. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Jones and wife, Cindy, of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jay Wright of Ft. Scott, Yvonne Palkowitsh and husband, Todd, of Copley, Ohio, Bill Jones, Atlanta, Ga., June Wright, Ft. Scott, Jarrett Jones, of Atlanta and Jordan Russell, Buda, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Jerry Wright of Ft. Scott and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma "Bunny" Wright and ten brothers and sisters.
Elder J. T. Owens will conduct funeral services at 11 .M. Monday, March 11 at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery.
