Seasons end for Eagle teams
ARMA -- Uniontown's basketball seasons came to an end at the Northeast Class 2A Sub-State Tournament here Thursday night. Eagle girls lost to Oswego, 59-44, in a first-round match. Uniontown's boys fell to Sedan, 56-50. No further information was available from the boys' game at press time.
The girls (9-12) trailed their Three Rivers League rival 15-2 after one period. They kept even with the Indians (12-9) after that but could not overcome the deficit.
"This game was not a good reflection of how this team has developed throughout the season," Eagle head coach Dustin Miller said. "We had a rough start and were unable to recover. This was a tough loss for our seniors. They have been the glue that has held this team together."
Hayden Rathbun led Uniontown with 12 points while Emily Shinn added 10. Mandie Ridge added 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Oswego will go on to play top seed Pleasanton tonight. The Blu-Jays (14-5) beat Howard-West Elk, 38-30.
Sedan boys' (15-6) will face Yates Center (8-12) in a semifinal tonight.
