Sheldon Mayor Rob Sewell, 44, was arrested Friday night on charges alleging 21 counts of felony forgery.

Court documents claim that between April 2008 and August 2010, Sewell wrote checks on John R. Young's First National Bank account, all except one of which were made payable to himself, on 21 occasions, in amounts ranging from $61 to $50,000, totaling more than $150,000. The largest check, the complaint says, was made payable to Doug M. Donald, in July 2010.

Details are sketchy, but Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman said Sewell and Young were not related, but Young may have been trying to help him out in the beginning, and things "got out of hand."

A $5,000 cash-only bond was set. No court dates have been scheduled.
