Uniontown Ruritan Club holds July meeting

Uniontown Ruritan Club held its July meeting at the Uniontown United Methodist Church annex on July 16. President Randy Rockhold called the meeting to order. Skeet George, club secretary, led club members in singing "America." A delicious meal was served by the United Methodist women. The club gave a round of applause for the ladies. President Rockhold presented a new member pin to Daniel Johns.

Skeet George read thank-you notes from Bonita Holeman thanking the club for the senior citizen dinner, and Jeanne Camac thanked the club for their scholarship support for Josh Beerbower.

Skeet then called roll with 14 members present.

George Warren gave report on the concession stand and thanked members for their help. The stand netted a $1,607.97 profit. Club members gave Warren a round of applause for all his hard work on the concession stand project.

The Lord family is donating memorial money from Hazel Lord's Memorial fund to the Uniontown Ruritan Club.

Chad Hold gave a treasurer's report. Ed Hartman moved that the treasurer's report be approved. Dale Jackson seconded and the motion carried.

Lawrence "Bugs" George is going to check on dead tree removal for Rhonda Murrow and Merle Rose.

Ken Holt announced that Old Settlers tickets were available for sale by members. First prize will be $200, second prize will be $100, third prize will be $50 and other prize winners will be given merchants' gifts (items donated by merchants).

Chad Holt has received a request for funds to assist cheerleaders Brittany Tanner and Jana Wilkinson, who have been selected as All-American Cheerleaders to perform in the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. George Warren moved the club give $200 to support them. Brad Hartman seconded and the motion carried.

Ken Holt moved to give Uniontown City Hall a check for $250 for utilities for a needy family. Brad Hartman seconded and the motion carried.

Club members dismissed by reciting the pledge to the American flag.
