A Fort Scott woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday afternoon near Mapleton.

Jessica Belshe, 18, Fort Scott, was hurt in the crash which took place about 3 p.m. on 125th Street about six miles north of U.S. Highway 54 and about three miles south of Mapleton.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, the 2005 Chevy Cobalt that Belshe was driving northbound on 125th Street dropped the right front tire off the roadway and over corrected. The vehicle slid sideways in a northwest direction across the southbound lane, entered the southbound ditch and struck a tree with the passenger side door.

The report said Belshe was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.

Belshe was taken to Mercy Health Center where she was treated and was in stable condition when she was transferred to the University of Kansas Medical Center, Mercy spokeswoman Tina Rockhold said.
