Winfred "Win" Jent, 94, of Fort Scott, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 13, 2011, at the Medicalodges Nursing Home.

He was born June 17, 1917, in Hume, Mo., the son of Edward Raymond and Donnie Leona (Bloomfield) Jent.

He married Florence Marie Plain Aug. 16, 1940, in Fort Scott, Kan. She preceded him in death March 4, 1999.

Win served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a radar man, 2nd Class from 1944 to 1945.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Scott and the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two sons, Larry R. Jent and his wife Loreta, of Bloomington, Ill., and David L. Jent of Fort Scott; two daughters, Donna R. Spencer and her husband Lawrence of Pleasanton, Kan., and Ruth Ann Konantz and her husband Tom of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Plain of Altamont, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Jack Plain of Fort Scott; six grandchildren, Shane Jent, Kecia Johnson, Angela Holt, Kevin Spencer, Benjamin Konantz, Joshua Konantz; and one great-grandson, Daniel Spencer Holt.

In addition to his first wife, Marie, Win was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Fern White Jent in December of 2004, two brothers, Raymond Jent and Edward Jent, and a great-grandson, Braxtyn Jent.

Rev. Ken Wood will conduct funeral services 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at First Baptist Church in Fort Scott. Burial will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery with military honors conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, Sept. 18, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
