No. 1 doubles team 2nd at Pittsburg JV quad

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity tennis team got a second-place finish from its No. 1 doubles team in a quadrangular here Monday. Fort Scott entered one team and an extra player to fill out one pool while Pittsburg fielded three teams.

Jasmine Davis and Aubin Duff had a 2-1 record on the day. They defeated McQuarie/Moore, 6-2, and Newcombe/Walters, 6-1. They lost to Hicks/Pichler, 6-3.

Danielle McDowell was third in No. 2 singles. Her win was over teammate Holly Duff, the player brought along to fill out the bracket, 6-0. She lost to Beachner, 6-2, and E.Curlee, 6-0. Duff lost to E. Curlee, 6-4, and Beachner, 6-0.

Natalie Carr was 0-3 in No. 1 singles. She lost to Laidler, 6-0; Johnson, 6-5 (7-1); and Thomas, 2-6.

Erin Thurston and Sky Tucker were 0-3 in No. 2 doubles. They lost to Sullivan/Cicero, 6-0; Nance/Forrest, 6-0; and Luce/Wallace, 6-3.

The next JV tourney will be at Parsons Tuesday with Labette County as the host.
