FSRC offering three workshops
The Fort Scott Recreation Commission and NETA, a non-profit fitness association, are co-sponsoring three upcoming workshops, which will be held at Buck Run Community Center, 735 Scott Ave.
* -- Group Exercise Certification, Sat., May 14 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise. No college, science or teaching background is required. Workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam, a two-year certificate and membership.
* -- Re-Boot Camp, Sun., May 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This camp combines power, function, agility, speed, cardio and high-intensity interval training. The class includes a variety of ways to keep workouts fresh.
* -- Personal Trainer Certification, Sat., May 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sun., May 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The two-day workshop includes demonstrations and practical application of one-on-one training. An experienced trainer will cover exercise review, communication skills, exercise programming and health assessments among other things. The workshop includes a written exam and two-year certification.
