Starlite and Thursday Nite F.C.E. learn about exercise

Friday, March 11, 2011

The Starlite F.C.E. and Thursday Nite Live F.C.E. held a joint meeting Feb. 22 at Buck Run. There were 20 members and guests present. Ann Ludlum, Bourbon County extension agent, opened the meeting with information about the 10th Walk Kansas program which begins with a kick off meeting March 12. This is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Contact Ann Ludlum at the Extension office, or any F.C.E. member for more information.

The program was presented by Joy Purkeypile, Linn County extension agent, who explained that adding exercise to our daily life will give us many health benefits. Regular exercise and physical activity can reduce the risk of developing some diseases and disabilities that develop as we grow older. Joy demonstrated exercises for the upper and lower body. She encouraged us to add strength training to our exercise program.

A Starlite F.C.E. meeting was held after the presentation.
