Conservation Department to host cable restraint seminar
The Missouri Department of Conservation will be conducting a free cable restraint device training seminar for interested trappers at the Four Rivers Conservation Area headquarters building on Sunday, Jan. 16. The seminar will begin at 1:30 and last for approximately four hours, according to Vernon County Conservation Agent Shawn Pennington.
The course for using cable restraint devices, or snares as they are commonly called, will be divided between classroom instruction on the rules restrictions and regulations governing the use of the traps and hands on activities. Participants will learn things like how to properly set the traps and what sign to look for when scouting. The course is mandatory for anyone wishing to use the device for trapping furbearers in Missouri. There is no registration required. For more information or questions call Shawn Pennington at (417) 667-2671 or Bates County Conservation Agent Don Tiller at (660) 679-8228.
