Members of the fifth grade choir ensemble at Eugene Ware Elementary School sing "We Go Together" from the film "Grease" during the annual United Way of Bourbon County kickoff breakfast Thursday morning at Fort Scott Community College. The organization, which has set a goal of $104,000 for its 2010-11 Save the Day the United Way campaign, raises money to provide funding for several local agencies that offer assistance to many Bourbon County residents. The event also included the presentation of colors and a flag salute led by Bourbon County Junior 4-H leaders, an invocation by Tim Woodring of the Ministerial Alliance, recognition of the United Way Board of Directors and the 16 agencies scheduled to receive funding from the United Way, and a keynote address from State Sen. Bob Marshall, who talked to the crowd about the organization's purpose and mission. (Jason E. Silvers/Tribune)
