Tigers fall in home opener

Louisburg's pair of goals in the second half gave the visiting Wildcats a 4-2 victory over Fort Scott High's soccer team in a non-league match at Ellis Park Tuesday afternoon.

Louisburg outshot the Tigers 14-1 in the second half, taking a 3-2 lead when Woody Watson scored his second goal of the match in the 56th minute of play. Goalkeeper Brett Allen initially saved a free kick by Daniel Wilson but Watson was there for the rebound.

Max Wallerstedt sealed the game up for the Wildcats with his 76th-minute goal.

Louisburg outshot Fort Scott in the game, 21-6. Allen made 8 saves for the Tigers.

Watson put the Wildcats in front in the fourth minute as he took a crossing pass from Wilson.

Max McAllister had a good look at the goal in the 12th minute but his shot went over the crossbar. But he used good footwork and a spin move to get through the Louisburg defense to score the Tigers' first goal five minutes later, tying the score at 1-1.

David Goff just missed putting Fort Scott ahead in the 23rd minute, going just a bit wide left with his shot.

Josh Buller took a pass from Matt Carillo and blasted a goal through from about 25 yards out in the 33rd minute to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Louisburg tied tie score on Harrison Unthank's goal with under a minute remaining in the half.

The Tigers will be at home again Thursday afternoon when they welcome Blue Valley Southwest for a 4:30 p.m. match. Southwest is the newest school in the Blue Valley district, opening this school year. It's expected to be a Class 4A school this year, then likely become a 5A school next year.
