FORT SCOTT -- The Fort Scott Community College Women's Basketball Team earned top 25 finishes in two different lists for their academic accomplishments during the past year.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its winners for the 2009-10 Academic Top 25 Team Honor roll. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. GPAs are calculated by dividing the total number of quality points earned by each student-athlete on an institution's roster in the given academic terms by the total number of hours earned by the team and must obtain at least a 3.00 GPA. FSCC Women's Basketball Team finished 14 with a team GPA of 3.09.

The FSCC Women's Basketball Team was ranked 23rd on the 2010 NJCAA Spring All-Academic Teams of the Year. The minimum grade point average requirement for consideration is a team GPA of 3.00. Over 340 teams qualified for academic team accolades.

"I am so proud of our young ladies for their accomplishments on and off the court this past year," said head coach Diana Couch. "They helped set the bar high for the upcoming years and stressed the value we place on academics in our program. I cannot thank the faculty and staff enough for taking the time to educate these young ladies and provide them guidance as they strive for success."
