ELIZABETH ALIDENE RUTHERFORD BREWER

Elizabeth Alidene Rutherford Brewer, age 86, formerly of 615 S. Margrave, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the National Healthcare Nursing Home, Joplin, Mo.

She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in Stotesbury, Mo., the daughter of Lee Clinton Dryer and Elranora Irene Stuart.

Alidene married Wilbur H. Rutherford on Oct. 7, 1944, in Fort Scott. He died on May 18, 1946.

She married Oscar Virgil Brewer in 1962 in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1996.

She worked in earlier years in the Stotesbury and Richard's Missouri school system.

She retired as a medical secretary with the Nevada Medical Clinic.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Alidene was a past member of the Nevada Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

She loved quilting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Ken Rutherford and wife Noveta, Joplin, Mo.; two step-daughters, Vonna Grosshart, Bixby, Okla., and Dawna Brewer, Fort Scott; one brother, Charles Dryer, Grants Pass, Ore.; two sisters, Mildred Shelton and Laura Mason, both of Fort Scott.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Libbie Ann Scott, and a sister Iva Lee Scantlin.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday in the East Liberty Cemetery at Stotesbury.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 2 p.m., in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
