President Glenn Smith called the Bronson Ruritan Club meeting to order with the song "America" led by Julia Ann Rhoton and prayer by Geri Reeder. Seventeen mebers and two guests enjoyed the evening meal served by Elaine Stewart and Betty Camac. The Ruritan Scholarship of $530 was presented to Du Shaun Robinson, his grandfather Charles Williams was present for the presentation. Board meeting minutes and were read by Secretary Louella Fuhrman and Joyce Wilkins gave the treasurer's report. Objective committees were called and the paper drive reported 1,740 pounds of paper and magazines. The club put flags out at the cemetery on May 27. David Wilkins presented the program, God in America, then the club adjourned with the Flag Salute.

Bronson Day was Saturday, May 29. Turn out was better than last year. Many thanks to all merchants for gifts for the drawing. The money drawings went to Elvis Reeder, $100; Connie Snow of Fort Scott, $50; and Robert Underwood, $25. The kids enjoyed the games and the littler ones liked the sand dig. Bronson Library Pie in the Face went to Mayor Alan Stewart, with city police officer Travis Harrison doing the honor. Parade results were: Floats, first place: Bronson Methodist Church, second place: O.E.S. Culture Club, third place: Serena McAnulty's ball team. Jean Wolf of Iola won first at the quilt show. Marshals of the parade were driven by their granddaughter Sonia and little Sophia Jones. The convertable for Elvis and Geri Reeder to ride in was loaned by George Johnson.

The Moran American Legion presented the Memorial Service at the Bronson Cemetery May 31. A good crowd for this event was present. Each year more people attend. The Bikers of the Legion were present.

The Bronson Culture Club met at the Iola Greenery June 1. After lunch President Retta Smith called the meeting to order with the thought, "God provides the nuts, but it isn't He who cracks them." Elizabeth Lundberg led the flag salute and Julia Ann Rhoton led the club collect. Ten members and one guest answered roll call by naming a famous river in the world. There were no minutes, Grace Smith gave the treasurer report. Bronson Day reports were given, secret pals names given, dues were paid, new pal names were drawn for 2010 to 2011. Bonita Holeman received a pal gift. President Retta for entertainment gave each a tongue twister, which each had to repeat three times as fast as possible. We all had a very good time. The club is in recess until September.
