Millions of acres covered under CRP set to expire

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that of the 3.783 million acres covered by general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts which expired Oct. 1, 2009, 1.045 million were extended for another three or five years while 2.738 million acres came out of CRP. Looking ahead, another 15.4 million acres are set to expire by October 2012.
