Phyllis Marie Scougal, 80, Nevada, formerly of Bronaugh, passed on to a greater life on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at her home in Nevada. She was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Siam, Iowa, to Oran H. and Ora Oxley Stanley. She married Paul R. Scougal on June 6, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, and he survives of the home.

Living in Iowa, Colorado, and Missouri, Phyllis's life was fulfilled with not only raising her children and working outside the home but with gardening, canning, sewing, breeding and showing championship Boston Terriers and also holding the esteemed position of Bronaugh Mayor. She and Paul enjoyed camping and were members of the National Campers and Hikers Association.

She was married to her husband Paul for 61 years, she was the beloved mother of Renee Weisensee, Dione Stanley, Denise Scougal, and Paula Scougal; grandmother to Christine, Lisa, Robert, Jennifer, Nicole, Toni, Cody, Devon, and Teri; and great-grandmother to 19 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by a younger brother, Dennis Stanley. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Scougal in 1991 and Scott Scougal in 1997; her parents; and four brothers, Albert, Leonard, Maurice, and Ray.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 1, at the Worsley Cemetery in Bronaugh, with the Rev. Justin Hoye, of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will received from 4-6 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Friends may call from now until 1 p.m., Monday at Ferry Funeral Home.
