UNIONTOWN -- Friday night, Uniontown High School will host a book signing by author Steven Michael Farney and several former area basketball stars as they sign copies of "Club 50: 50-Point Single Game Scorers in Kansas High School Boys Basketball History."

Joining Farney at the Uniontown High football game will be joined by former UHS player Shane Dennis and Prescott High School players Donnie Brown and Leland Wood, all of whom once scored 50 points in a Kansas high school basketball game at least once and are included in the book.

The late Dean Goodbody, another former Uniontown player, is also featured in the book. Goodbody topped the 50-point mark in consecutive games against McCune and Marmaton Valley during the 1977 season and is the only known boy in Kansas history to have back-to-back 50-point games, according to a press release.

Dennis scored 52 points in a 1998 game against Humboldt. Brown scored 52 for Prescott against Blue Mound in 1960 while Wood topped his brother-in-law with a 56-point performance against LaCygne in 1965.

Other area players featured in the book hail from Fulton, Blue Mound, Pleasanton, Kincaid, Humboldt, Chanute, Colony, Erie and Galesburg. In all, "Club 50" includes 72 players from 60 schools who scored 50 points or more in a game and 562 players from 262 schools who have scored 40 or more points. The book begins with the 1921 season.

Autographs will take place under the bleachers at the UHS football stadium Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the game against Northeast, at halftime and for 20 minutes after the game. The price of the book is $25, tax included. Farney will return $5 from each purchase to UHS.

Other autograph sessions will be held Saturday at PDQ Convenience Store in Prescott from 10 a.m. to noon and Bowman's NuGrill, 24 N. National, from 3 to 5 p.m.
