Johnny D. Stoneking, Sr., 69, of Valley Center, Kan., and former owner and operator of a bowling center in Fort Scott, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009.

He was born Aug. 26, 1939 at Macomb, IL, and grew up at Epworth, Iowa.

He worked for John Deere Tractor in Dubuque, Iowa and later owned and operated many businesses including a supper club in Waukon, Iowa, a furniture store in Melbourne, Iowa and bowling centers in Fort Scott and Iola, Kan., and Webster City, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sandra Stoneking, 2 daughters, Vicky McMillin & husband, David of Andover, KS, and Stacey Parker & husband, Garen of Mulvane, KS, one son, Jerry Stoneking & wife, Tina of Valley Center, KS, 8 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tues., Aug. 18, 2009, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Food will be served at the Iola American Legion following the service.
