A teenage musician is bringing her talents back to the Fort Scott stage Friday.

Thirteen-year-old Abbey Vogts, who is from Erie, Kan., will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion near the corner of First and Main streets. Vogts, whose last performance during the concert series was in May, will be the featured artist during the show.

According to Deborah Vogts, Abbey's mother, Abbey performs a mix of contemporary and classic country songs and enjoys performing songs by country and pop artist Taylor Swift. During the Friday concert, Abbey plans to sing a few solo tunes and two duets with her older sister, 18-year-old Maggie Vogts, who also sings and recently began learning the guitar, Deborah said.

Abbey began taking guitar lessons in January from John Stubenrouch, the pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hepler. Stubenrouch is coordinating the Friday concert, Deborah said.

The concert is part of the weekly Friday night summer concert series that is sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Division and continues through September. Attendees should remember to bring their own lawn chairs as seating is not provided at the event.
