FSCC softball skills camps June 23-25

The Fort Scott Community College Softball program will host three softball camps at the Betty Ruth Willard Complex next week. There will be a two-day Skills Camp from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Wednesday and two camps Thursday. A pitching and catching clinic from 9 a.m. to noon and a slappers' clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday. All camps are open to players from third grade to high school seniors.

The cost for the Skills Camp is $35, which includes a T-shirt. The pitching and catching clinic is $25 by itself of $15 if the participant is also enrolled in the Skills Camp. The slappers' clinic is $20 by itself or $10 when combined with the Skills Camp.

FSCC Head Softball Coach Lauren Sigwing along with returning FSCC softball players will provide individual instruction. The Skills Camp will cover throwing, fielding, batting mechanics, bunting, base running and more. The pitching and catching clinic participants will learn receiving, framing, blocking, throw downs, pitch calling, and more. The slappers' clinic will cover skills such as slapping footwork, drag bunting, and more.

Campers must bring their own glove and catchers need to bring their own catching gear. Participants should also bring tennis shoes in case of rain. Campers are also welcome to bring optional equipment such as a bat and cleats. Camp registration and check in begins at 8:30 a.m. June 23.
