Area residents will soon have the opportunity to stop and smell the roses during the Bourbon County Master Gardeners and Garden Club's Secret Garden Tour.

According to a press release from the Bourbon County Master Gardeners and Garden Club, this year's secret garden tour will be conducted on June 20 and 21 and will feature the gardens of six local residents.

The Trimbur garden which is titled "The Garden of Painted Ladies," will be one of the gardens on the tour this year. In addition, the Adams garden, "A Garden of Whimsy and Fun;" the Chance garden, which is "A Magical Country Garden;" the Scott garden called "An English Herb Garden;" and the Tri Valley Garden, "An Enabling Garden" will also be on the tour.

Although the Trimbur, Chance and Scott gardens have been on the tour in the past, the gardens have changed and matured through the years making them a new experience from the last time they were on the tour, according to the press release.

"We have a nice variety of gardens for this year's tour," the press release said. "Each is a totally different style of garden."

Tickets for this year's tour are on sale now and can be purchased at Country Cupboard and the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce.
