Thursday, May 28, 2009

Youth in the local area will soon be able to spend an adventurous day outside participating in various games and activities.

According to a press release from the local Kansas State Research and Extension office, the Bourbon County 4-H Junior Leaders will be sponsoring a One Day Camp for area youth who are seven to 10-years-old.

The One Day Camp will be conducted from 8 a.m. till noon on Friday, June 19 at Gunn Park and will feature outdoor activities such as archery, crafts, a scavenger hunt, games and a nutrition activity.

The camp will be supervised by adult 4-H volunteers and County Extension agents Ann Ludlum and Delta George. Junior leaders from 4-H will be on hand to help lead the activities.

According to Ludlum, there are two requirements for children to attend the camp. They must be seven to 10-years-old and an emergency phone number for a parent or guardian must be provided.

Local youth do not have to belong to the 4-H program in order to attend the camp, which costs $4 per child.

Registrations for camp can be made at the Extension office, which is located on the first floor of the courthouse, or parents can call the office at (620) 223-3720. The registration deadline is Friday, June 12.
