City adopts new zoning fee schedule
As a result of the new zoning regulations adopted by the city earlier this year, the Fort Scott City Commission adopted a new zoning fee schedule during Tuesday evening's meeting.
Fort Scott Codes Administrator Amanda Proffitt told the commissioners the change was needed because the city was spending an average of $198 in mailing and publication over the last five meetings of the zoning board. She added the fee schedule was created in comparison to the fee schedules of Pittsburg, Chanute, and Iola.
The new fee schedule is as follows: re-zoning fee is $150; preliminary plat is $50 plus $5 per lot with a minimum of $75 and a maximum of $150; final plat is $50 plus $5 per lot with a minimum of $75 and a maximum of $150; correction of platting error is $50; site plan review is $100; conditional use permit is $100; variance is $50; planned unit development is $100; a lot split is $150; vacation of street, alley, public easement, or public reservation is $150
A $500 deposit will be required for administrative fees beyond the initial review. Proffitt said the money will be used to pay for newspaper publications, staff review time, mailings, and related costs for the review of the application. She added the remainder of the deposit will be refunded.
