FSCC students participate in Earth Week

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

The Alpha Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Fort Scott Community College participated in the "Operation Green" campaign during the last week of April. "Operation Green" was created by Phi Theta Kappa members in order to increase the public's awareness of environmental issues. FSCC PTK members got involved with the program during Earth Week by picking up trash around the entire FSCC campus, and planting trees, flowers and shrubs around the newest addition of the college's walking trail. Members completed the tasks as part of the "Operation Green" campaign and also to improve the appearance of the campus prior to Community Appreciation Day April 25. Volunteers planted about 30 different saplings and shrubs to provide shade for the walking trail and a windbreak for the stables where the FSCC rodeo team keeps their horses.
