Demand for 'Sendler' tix brings Wed. matinee

Due to the high demand for tickets to the upcoming world premiere of the television movie "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler," organizers have scheduled a preview matinee of the film for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Liberty Theater, 113 S. Main St.

Doors to the theater will open at 1:30 p.m. There are 200 seats available for the matinee film preview event, which is free of charge. No refreshments will be served. There is a possibility that one of the confirmed special guests for the film's world premiere event that evening could attend the matinee, Lowell Milken Center Director and "Life in a Jar" co-founder Norm Conard said.

Special guests who plan to attend the evening film premiere include Hallmark representatives, original and current "Life in a Jar" cast members, and several others. Tickets to the matinee preview will be available on a first come, first served basis, Conard said.

The world premiere of the Hallmark-produced film, which tells the story of Polish heroine Irena Sendler, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Doors to the theater will open at 6:15 p.m., with special guests arriving in limousines for red carpet entrances around 6:30 p.m., and the movie starting at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served prior to the film's screening.

More than 400 people have already made reservations for the evening event, and several names are currently on a waiting list to attend, so organizers scheduled the matinee to accommodate the people who were interested in attending the evening premiere but could not get tickets, officials said.

"Life in a Jar" is the title of a student-driven project and stage play that details Sendler's efforts to rescue more than 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.
