Pleasanton boys second at Southeast

CHEROKEE -- Pleasanton's boys finished in second place here Tuesday at the Southeast varsity meet.

Northeast-Arma was the team winner with 112 points followed by Pleasanton's 77. Riverton and Pittsburg Colgan tied for third with 59 points each.

Pleasanton's girls finished in fifth place. Columbus won the meet with 71 points followed by Colgan with 68 and Northeast with 65. Erie was fourth with 62 points and Pleasanton had 55. Nine schools competed in this meet.

The Blu-Jays had two event winners in boys' competition. Joey Shoopman won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches while David Sowards took the 200-meter dash in 24.24 seconds.

Skyler Martin won two second-place medals as he threw the javelin 141' 5" and the discus 117' 7".

Jon Ransier was second in high jump at 5' 6". He was also the lead leg on the second-place 4x100-meter relay team with Sowards, Shoopman and Daniel Barber, which turned in a time of 48.2 seconds.

Cody Maloney was third in high jump at 5' 6" and Daniel Streeter was third in the 800 meters in 2:18.3.

Maloney, Landon Baker, Sowards and Streeter took fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:03.

T.J. Davis was fifth in shot put with a mark of 40' 6". Shoopman was fifth in triple jump at 33' 6" and sixth in long jump at 17' 8". Sowards was fifth in the 100 meters in 12.2 and Maloney was fifth in the 400 in 59.5.

On the girls' side, Darla Snyder won shot put with an effort of 31' 9" and Kim Robinson took discus with a throw of 91' 6". Robinson was also second in shot at 31' 7" and Snyder was third in discus at 83' 7".

Rachel Richmond picked up a pair of thirds with a 4' 8" effort in high jump and a 1:09.05 time in the 400 meters.

Cheyanne Reynolds was fourth in javelin at 81' 3" and sixth in the 1,600 meters. Cody Byington was fourth in the 100 meters in 14.6 seconds.

The Blu-Jays will be idle until Tuesday when they host their own invitational. The first event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
