Master Gardeners to present 'What's new in 2009' event

Beginning their operation in a 10-foot-by-16-foot greenhouse which held 160 flats of plants in 1977, George and Rita Arnold have grown over the years. And grown some more.
Now 31 years later, the gardening duo own one of the largest greenhouse organizations in the state. Arnold's Greenhouse and Garden Center in LeRoy sits on about 80,000 square feet of land holding 120 growing facilities. So, Rita was an obvious choice for the role of feature speaker at the Feb. 23, annual Bourbon County Master Gardeners program, according to Bourbon County Master Gardner Martha Scott.
The event is to be held at Citizen's National Bank in Fort Scott. Rita will host a power point presentation featuring new plant introduction for spring 2009.
"New plant introductions are the driving force and excitement in gardening every spring," said Scott, "and Rita will give a power point presentation of most of the new introductions that will be featured at their garden center."
