Mercy Health Center Auxiliary recently received the 2008 Gold Award of Excellence awarded by Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas and Kansas Hospital Association.

The award is a non-competitive plan for encouraging individual Auxiliaries to exceed their own best effort; requiring completion of 21 criteria including involvement in health related community service, health education programs, contributions to health career scholarships and other special projects during a twelve month period.

Mercy Auxiliary has met these qualifications each year since 1990. Representing Fort Scott during the Annual State Convention, in Overland Park, November 13-14 were: Alice Allen, Mary Allen, Patsy Dosstter, Reuben and Caroline Lowery, Pam Lyons and Cliff and Nancy Patterson. HAK President, Nancy Farmer, used the Lighthouse as her theme for the year 2008. Carla Farmer, Mercy marketing and development, joined the group for the awards presentation.

Already at work with plans for the coming year, Fort Scott will host the District Convention, April 28, 2009. Fourteen Medical (Hospital) Auxiliaries are included in the District.

Those interested in joining a group of volunteers may contact Carla Farmer, 620-223-7026, for an application.
