Senior Swingers band to play Friday

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

All went well with a very good turnout at the Senior Citizens Monday night dance at Buck Run Community Center. The weather was fine. The big fans were put out and turned on, but it soon cooled down and they were shut off for the evening.

There were guests from Chanute and Pittsburg that hadn't been present for some time.

John and Bonnie Gaddy from Pittsburg were back after both being sick for three weeks.

A sympathy card was signed for the Aletha Dalton family, she passed away last week. She had been sick with cancer for some time.

We got a good report from Neva Hite. She is home and doing better, but as of now she is grounded with Gout in both heels and can't walk. Her hip surgery was a success.

The Hill Billies from Chanute, Bob and Sheryl Reynolds were present. They do a good job of dancing and enjoy our music.

We had a good number doing the line dance again. When over 15 get out on the flloor, it's a good bunch. There were a couple new ones trying it again tonight. Most everyone takes part in the chair dance. It is a good mixer. We didn't have any birthdays or anniversaries this week. We had plenty of help in the kitchen before break time and the cleanup after. The men pitch in and help with the cleaning of tables and getting things put away.

The Senior Swingers Band is going to play Friday night, at the regular Friday music that has been playing at the Gazebo.

They will play at the church on third and Margrave beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

We are glad Wes Coleman and his family from Butler can make it. We do enjoy having Mandolin to go along with the rest of our music. Alva McNeely plays his violin lots and he plays his guitar and sings too. Marion sings and plays the Bass guitar. He does play a lead guitar too, but we need him on the Bass in our group and he can sing with it ok.

I try to keep things going on the piano and I have sang a few songs. We do miss Clarence Nation on the horn. Hope he is getting better and can join us again sometime in the future.

There will be a dance, Friday night, Cadmus, starting at 7 p.m.
