Colony to hold annual celebration

For the small town of Colony, it's that time again. The 12th annual Colony Day Celebration is set to take place, Saturday, August 30.

This year's theme is "Colony: Now and Then," and is to include many events including a Farm Implement Show, craft vendors, parade, BBQ competition and more.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

* Farm Implement Show, Craft Vendors, all day

* Lion's Club Breakfast, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.

* Fun Walk, 7:30 a.m., $10 registration fee, includes T-shirt

* Auto Show, 9 a.m., $12 Early entree fee, $15 day of show

* Quilt Show

* Baby Show

* Kid's Pedal Tractor Pull

* Kids Games/Races, 9:30 a.m.

* Chili/Salsa Chip Dip Competition, 10 a.m.

* Smokeoff and BBQ Competition, 10 a.m., Register from 7- 9 a.m.

* Parade, Grand Marshalls: Elton and Myrtle Francis, 11 a.m.

* Waterslide/Volleyball Tournament, 11:30 a.m.

* Pony Pull, 12 p.m.

* Cake Walk, 1 p.m.

* Ice Cream Social, 2 p.m.

* Awards, 2:30 p.m.

* Basket Auction, 3 p.m.

* Turtle Races, 4 p.m.

* Evening Meal, 5 p.m.

* Raffle Drawing/ Talent Show, 6 p.m.

All entertainment and activities will be held on Broad Street in downtown Colony.

The Raffle will include many prizes including the grand prizes, two Kansas City Chief tickets and two Renaissance Festival tickets. Tickets can be purchased for one dollar. All proceeds will go to Colony Day.

Throughout the day, visitors can look at the displays and vendors, while partipating in various activities including games.
