The Missouri Kansas Youth Rodeo Association sanctioned an event at the Bourbon County Fair Tuesday night, which counted in point standings prior to the season-ending MKYRA Finals to be held Aug. 30-31 at Butler, Mo.

Boys and girls competed in events such as bareback riding, breakaway roping and steer wrestling for the older competitors to mutton breaking and calf riding for the youngest ones.

Logan Rutherford was the winner of the first event, bareback riding, with a score of 61 points followed by Cotton Wheeler with 59. The second event was mutton busting, where Joey Donaldson and Taylor Dickmeyer tied for the best score of 68, followed by Keigan Rowe with 66 points.

Colton Byram won calf riding with 63 points with Kyle Dickmeyer in second with 60. Breakaway roping followed with juniors going first. Kelsey Schweikert was the only junior to finish with a time, 27.81 seconds. Maggie Everson led the seniors with a time of 18.62 followed by Bailey Conner in 19.09.

Colt Humbard of Cameron, Mo., was the first competitor in junior boys' calf roping and was barely out of the gate before he snagged the calf in just 3.75 seconds.

Other events at the rodeo were finished too late for the Tribune's deadline.
